Welcome to the Bird Flu Web Site
Bird flu is a common name for Avian Influenza that is a virus found in
birds. Scientists have named this virus strain of bird flu, H5N1.
Influenza has been the cause of more deaths than all the wars put together
that has ever been fought in the history of mankind. This Spanish Flu, the
Avian Flu, the Hong Kong Flu, the H5N1 Flu are all mutations of influenza.
The Avian Flu starts in birds, primarily water fowl. These water fowl seem
to be able to host the influenza virus for generation without effecting the
carrier bird. As these birds migrate across the globe, they infect
different species of birds through contact and/or faces droppings.
The
infected bird can be a chicken, turkey, parrot, song bird or any non-water
fowl. The influenza virus is transmitted to other birds of the same species
rapidly as they have no resistance. Humans coming in contact with influenza
infected birds have been known to contract Avian Flu from infected birds.
The World Health Organization is most concerned with Avian Flu if it mutates
so that it can be transferred from human to human. The bird flu at this
time is not known to have this capability. Should the bird flu mutate so
that humans could catch the Avian Flu from each other, the world would see a
condition known as a pandemic.
Potentially, millions of people would die
from the bird flu before it runs its course. There is no known cure or
vaccine for the bird flu. Death can occur in less than 36 hours.
The bird flu is most deadly to the young, elderly and those who have
weakened immune systems. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The world wide death toll of humans with bird flu is less than 500. Bird
flu is believed have originated in the Orient and is now prevalent in over
15 nations including Europe and South Africa.
The deadly Bird Flu also identified as H5N1 is a Super Virus. Bird Flu
kills almost every person infected. Humans have no immunity to Avian Flu aka
bird flu of the strain H5N1.
